Interactive TV with MICROSOFT

In August 1999, Thomson multimedia announced its joint venture TAK with MICROSOFT, a new company dedicating itself to interactive television services in Europe. The first range of Thomson TAK interactive television was launched in France in December 2000. TAK provides a complete line of services such as Internet access, E-mail, information services, and access to interactive programming.

Thomson multimedia and Microsoft have formed another alliance, with this time alongside digital media provider DIRECTV to market in North America a new advanced decoder equipped with a hard disc drive and the new Microsoft Ultimate TV service.

Thomson multimedia provides DVD-Rom drives along with DVD and video compression (MPEG2) technology for Microsoft new video game console, Xbox.
